"Art is literacy of the heart" ~ Elliot Eisner
"Good art is not what it looks like, but what it does to us." ~ Roy Adzak
"The job of the artist is always to deepen the mystery." ~ Francis Bacon
"A work of art which did not begin in emotion is not art." ~ Paul Cézanne
“Time is free, but it's priceless. You can't own it, but you can use it. You can't keep it, but you can spend it. Once you've lost it you can never get it back.” - Harvey MacKay
“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” - Steve Jobs
“The timeless in you is aware of life's timelessness; and knows that yesterday is but today's memory and tomorrow is today's dream.” - Kahlil Gibran
Everything Falls Apart..." - Sarah Maclachlan song lyrics.
"It was propped against the collar box and I lay listening to it. Hearing it, that is. I don't suppose anybody ever deliberately listens to a watch or a clock. You don't have to. You can be oblivious to the sound for a long while, then in a second of ticking it can create in the mind unbroken the long diminishing parade of time you didn't hear."
The Sound and the Fury
"We know the past but cannot control it.
We control the future but cannot know it."
“You can't turn back the clock but you can wind it up again” - Bonnie Prudden
Too slow for those who wait,
Too swift for those who fear,
Too long for those who grieve,
Too short for those who rejoice,
But for those who love...
Time is eternity.
Books let us into their souls and lay open to us the secrets of our own. ~William Hazlitt
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot
To sit alone in the lamplight with a book spread out before you, and hold intimate converse with men of unseen generations - such is a pleasure beyond compare. ~Kenko Yoshida
In books lies the soul of the whole Past Time: the articulate audible voice of the Past, when the body and material substance of it has altogether vanished like a dream. ~Thomas Carlyle
Medicine for the soul. ~Inscription over the door of the Library at Thebes
“It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.”
- Robert Louis Stevenson
The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see nature all ridicule and deformity . . . and some scarce see nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, nature is imagination itself.
- William Blake
“All of life is a journey. Which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us. We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there.”
“The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.” J.R.R. Tolkien.
"Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending...” - Maria Robinson
"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day."
Albert Einstein (1879 - 1955)
“This life is yours. Take the power to choose what you want to do and do it well. Take the power to love what you want in life and love it honestly. Take the power to walk in the forest and be a part of nature. Take the power to control your own life. No one else can do it for you. Take the power to make your life happy.”
Susan Polis Schutz
If there's a book you really want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it. ~Toni Morrison
The pages are still blank, but there is a miraculous feeling of the words being there, written in invisible ink and clamoring to become visible. ~Vladimir Nabakov
Writing became such a process of discovery that I couldn't wait to get to work in the morning: I wanted to know what I was going to say. ~Sharon O'Brien

Thou art more lovely, and more temperate,
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May..."

There are some amazingly talented people on DA and these are my particular favourites! I tend to fave a lot of redheads, forests, mazes, topiary, sundials, gardens, toadstools, cats, cute wild animals, ballet themed shots, landscapes, blue and purple flowers, sculptures and artistic nudes, but there are a lot of other themes to be found in my favourite's folder!
What can I say? I've always had a thing for redheads, finding them beautiful, mysterious and alluring, and particularly tend to favour long-haired, dreamy/wistful looking models! If you like that look too I am sure you will enjoy the contents of this folder...
A tribute to one of my favourite movies ever...the beautifully haunting Picnic at Hanging Rock by Peter Weir.
Miranda: Everything begins and ends at the exactly right time and place.
Miranda: What we see and what we seem are but a dream, a dream within a dream.
Sara: Miranda knows lots of things other people don't know. Secrets. She knew she wouldn't come back.
Mlle. de Poitiers: Ah! Now I know.
Miss McCraw: What do you know?
Mlle. de Poitiers: I know that Miranda is a Botticelli angel.
A very basic piece of music I composed in tribute to this excellent movie -
Instead of doing my usual feature focusing on several different photographers and artist, I thought I would start featuring some individual people whose photographs or artwork have really wowed me with its style/uniqueness/beauty etc.
The first artist I would like to feature is relatively new to DeviantART but her photography and themes have immediately blown me away! With beautiful ethereal models, incredible locations, mythic themes, and wonderfully surreal touches, she ticks all the boxes for me!
She has also entered a competition and needs 1000 votes to get to New York so her work will gain exposure at a global exhibition
Please could you spend a couple of minutes to vote for her here -
Her website can also be found here - www.rebeccalitchfield.com/unde…

I've also started writing some 'Sherlock' fanfiction that can be found here -
And sculpted a Sherlock doll here -
My blog -
which will basically consist of an inspirational quote/poem a day, accompanied by one of my photos.
My one of a kind (OOAK) fairie(s) for sale over at my EBay shop -

I also take commissions for fairies, mermaids, babies...whatever you fancy...I'm always up for a challenge!

This donation pool was original set up to raise funds for a year's subscription. Then as a response to my journal entry about it, my lovely friend gave me a year's subscription!
So, I shall keep the donation pool open but the points will probably go towards prizes for my next contest!
So with that in mind, any points would be most appreciated.

I wish the ring had never come to me.
I wish none of this had happened.
So do all who live to see such times.
But that is not for them to decide.
All we have to decide is what to do
with the time that is given to us.
Is all that we see or seem
But a dream within a dream?
- Edgar Allan Poe
Fill yourself with desire and see only illusion,
Empty yourself of desire and understand the great mystery of things.
A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
- Lao-tzu, The Way of Lao-tzu
Do not fear to hope,
for every time we smell the autumn's dying scent,
we know the primrose time will come again.
- Samuel Coleridge
