I almost once bought a watch that was made to reveal all the inner clockwork as it ran - I can't really stand the noise of wind-ups however. I can never sleep with all that ticking. :D

I find ticking can be distracting at night too. I have an old Victorian clock on the landing outside the bedroom. It has such a loud tick that I stop it just before bed and start it up in the morning again (when I remember!). :D

It's actually a watch but it's an old fashioned wind up and you can see all the cogs working through the glass. :)
